Dr. Nikolaos Efthymiopoulos (male) was born in 1980 and he is currently a senior researcher at National Technical University of Athens in Greece. Since 2010 he holds a PhD degree in Computer Science. His research activities are: energy efficiency, peer-to-peer, optimization, theory of dynamical systems, pattern recognition, big data, distributed searching, computer networks and social networks. He has around 25 publications in these areas. Since 2004 he has participated in various Information & Communication Technology Projects. Among others he actively participated in the coordination of: i) VITAL++ that exploited the capabilities that social interaction offers towards the creation of a real time content distribution architectures and ii) STEER that explored the dynamic relationship between social informatics and networked media through experimentation. His focuses now in Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Storage Systems and he participates actively in the coordination SOCIALENERGY that facilitates the easy, rich and deep communication among involved stakeholders in energy efficiency (end users, service providers, vendors, etc.) and allows them to: i) discover each other, ii) educate themselves in order understand the difficulties and challenges that each one faces and iii) finally interact and trade among them.
