Business Day

Panorama of Entrepreneurship & Career Development

For the sixth year running, we are organizing our very successful “Business Day”, which began years ago, as part of Professor Iordanis Ladopoulos’ courses at the Athens University of Economics and Business.

“Business Days” are educational visits for 18- to 30-year-old students and graduates of various universities (Technical University, Economics Schools, Science Schools, etc.) to multinational companies. These visits include presentations/seminars given by company executives (often the CEOs themselves).

This year we will be holding at least 32 “Business Days” with the companies and organizations listed below.

All of the “Business Days” will take place after the Panorama, between 17 April and 13 July 2018, but to take part you will have to come by the conference at some point (see “Participation Process” below).

There is no extra charge for these Business Days.

Last year, some 900 young men and women were given the opportunity to participate in the 36 scheduled Business Days.

What can I gain from participating?

  • You will experience the unique opportunity to familiarize yourself with companies from the inside and talk to senior executives and, often, with the company’s CEO.
  • Department heads will talk to you about how each of the company’s departments functions.
  • The schedule usually includes an in-depth discussion of a specialized issue that concerns the given company.
  • You will network with company personnel and the other participants.
  • If a given Business Day is carried out at a time when the company in question is looking for personnel, you will have the opportunity to make a good first impression on the company’s personnel and, you never know, a job opportunity may arise. In the past four years, at least 45 people have found job or internship opportunities through our “Business Days”.
  • If the company has a production facility, you will be taken on a tour.
  • You will learn from the human resources manager about the selection process, the qualifications the company looks for in prospective employees, and how to build the ideal CV for that specific company.
  • But even if the company you choose, and that chooses you, isn’t hiring at the time, it will certainly be a plus for you to be able to include this visit in your CV should you apply for a position there in the future.
  • You will be given a certificate of participation.
  • You can put it on your CV.
  • And you will certainly have a very good time!

Participation process

For the second consecutive year, Business Day application is online.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 1) Your presence during the Panorama is important because the application process includes a brief interview at the conference venue.

2) Additionally, applying to participate does not automatically mean that you will be able to attend the Business Day(s) of your choice, because we and the company will make final selections based on merit.

3) Have a thorough study of the business you wish to visit.

Online Application Completion Steps:

STEP 1: You can register and apply to participate BEFORE the Panorama.

STEP 2: To complete your registration, you need to create a new profile in the online application. If you have created your profile last year, then log in to the application with your email and password accordingly.

STEP 3: When you have entered the platform, fill in your information and choose your six (6) favourite Business Days. The submission of the application is final and can not be changed.

STEP 4: After submitting your application, you must submit your CV to the online platform. To better manage your resume, we recommend that your file name be your first name.

STEP 5: You will have to come by the Panorama conference at some point  (with a €5 or €10 ticket) and have a brief interview at the Business Days stand.

STEP 6: In collaboration with the companies, we will select the participants, who will be notified by email at least ten days before each Business Day.

We wish you success with your application!

What to focus on

We want to help you make as good an impression as possible on the Business Day companies, so we would like to draw your attention to some important issues that will help you get the most from your «Business Day» experience – if you are selected, of course. Details will make the difference.

We advise professional dress. For example, a suit makes an incomparably better impression that torn jeans and trainers. After all, the “Business Days” may give you job opportunities, and your grooming will be taken into serious consideration.

Your selection for the “Business Days” from among the many other candidates is very important. So we would like ask that you comply with the deadlines and arrive promptly at the appointed time for the meeting prior to the Business Day you are to attend.

Your participation in the “Business Days” is an excellent opportunity for you to gather information about the company and acquaint yourself with the company’s personnel. So we urge you to ask questions and seize the opportunity to talk to company personnel during the breaks and the luncheon. Being dynamic and social, and taking initiative, will help you to make a very positive impression. But don’t overdo it! Monopolizing a Q&A, for example, will have the opposite effect.

You will be asked to provide us with your CV as part of your application to participate in “Business Days”. It is extremely important that you take great care in preparing your CV. There should be no spelling or grammatical errors, and it should be two pages at the most. Beyond the fact that your CV will play a key role in the evaluation of your application, it may also be your ‘passport’ to an interview with a company. This year’s conference will have a ‘CV Corner’, where you can get advice from a team of experts from EMPLOY Career Consultants.

Before you come to the “Business Day”, you will find it useful to have researched the company thoroughly. The thoroughness of your research will be apparent from the questions you ask and your conversations with company personnel, and it makes a very good impression.
